Window Treatments, Drapery & Shades
Custom window treatments are primary elements of home interior design. Window shadings are integral for both fashion and function – key design elements for light control, privacy, energy efficiency and views. Homebuilders offer shading packages in new developments and options to include electrical outlets for controlling window treatments with an APP or smart home remote control. These systems are pricey now however with faster technology improvements they will become more prevalent and less costly.
When addressing window shadings several factors are considered. Window size and shape, the room function, the need to control light, heat and cold, security, comfort, privacy and acoustical benefits. There are numerous options from sheer shadings that offer privacy when closed, cellular shades great for bedrooms and bathrooms, wood blinds for ease of use with a wand control and great to deflect heat during hot summer days, faux wood blinds for above a kitchen sink or steamy bathroom, and handsome wood shutters which are considered furniture for your windows. More contemporary options include a wide variety of roller shades in severable fabric options including solar fabrics. These shades can be light filtering or room darkening. Bathrooms needing privacy are a great place to use a top down bottom up option allowing both daylight views and privacy at the same time.

Modern custom drapery styles use classic detailing, fabric banding or elegant trims, and are either board mounted or installed or wood or metal decorative hardware. Our favorite fabrics include light, airy contemporary sheers with beautiful embroidered designs. Sheer fabrics have a soft elusive design and do not overwhelm a room as heavier fabrics of traditional drapery design.
